Pupils Race for Life!

July wasn't playing ball - the weather was unsettled, sometimes cold and wet - so the prospect of a Fun Run wasn't a certainty!  However, after a lot of prayers and wishes, Friday 15th dawned sunny and bright and the Race was on!

It was a long time in the making.  The children of the School Council proposed the idea in November of 2015 - a sponsored Race For Life to raise money to help beat cancer.  They presented their idea to the school and asked everyone to get on board and get involved, from Nursery through to Year 6.  The community spirit of St Gregory's is all about support for others, so many people were happy to take part.

Over 400 people ran for Life, in the school grounds, thoughout the day.  The event began at 9.00am and continued through until 3.15pm, during which the children of St Gregory's were running continuously, in year groups.  The effort and enthusiasm made up for the rainy drizzle.  No one seemed to mind!

As a result of our efforts, we are proud to announce that the school has raised a significant amount of money for Cancer Research.

We raised £1211.75 in cash and an additional £70 online at JustGiving, bringing the total to £1281.75.

What an achievement!  Well done, St Gregory's and a big thank you to the children, staff, parents and members of our community who came together to Race for Life.
