St Gregory’s Catholic Primary School

St Gregory’s Catholic Primary School

At St Gregory's Catholic Primary School, many pupils from Reception through to Year 6 have leadership roles. The children enjoy taking on extra responsibilities and this gives them a sense of belonging. We have a variety of leadership roles, to empower our children and encourage them to lead with confidence.

Our pupil leadership roles include:

  • House Captains
  • GIFT Team
  • The School Council
  • Worship Leaders
  • Office Monitors
  • Eco Stewards
  • Reading Ambassadors
  • Common Room Monitors
  • Assembly Monitors

The School Council

The councillors are made up of one child per class from Reception to Year 6. The School Council represents the pupil voice of the school and have important roles in communication and organisation between the pupil body and the school's initiatives and campaigns.

They are often called upon to assist in duties during the school year, including assemblies and presentations, competitions and fund-raising.  They meet regularly to discuss school improvements and make decisions by council vote.

School councillors are elected once a year, in September.

Eco Stewards

The Eco Stewards work with everyone in school towards keeping ourselves and our environment green and clean, and to make the world a better place in which to live.

House Captains

The House Captains represent our four school houses: Alban, Becket, Fisher and More.  They help to lead the school throughout the year, including on Sports Day and enrichment days.

GIFT Team and Worship Leaders

The GIFT Team work alongside our school chaplain to focus on prayer and reflection for the school. The GIFT Team lead assemblies throughout the year and meet at lunchtimes to lead prayer. The Worship Leaders are allocated in each class and lead prayers for the rest of the class.

Office Monitors and Assembly Monitors

The Office Monitors assist our school office staff and help to carry out tasks such as delivering the register box each morning and afternoon. The Assembly Monitors assistant in getting the hall ready for assembly each morning, as well as helping with leading assemblies by assisting with technology.

Common Room Monitors

The Common Room Monitors help to ensure our Year 6 Common Room runs smoothly. They suggest ideas and activities that Year 6 may enjoy and ensure it is left neat and tidy at the end of a session.
