World Book Day

On Thursday, March 2nd we will be celebrating World Book Day.  We will be running some fun reading activities throughout the day and we invite all children to dress up as a story book character for the day.  Please don’t feel under any pressure to create extravagant costumes.  There are many characters that it is easy to dress as using the clothes that your children already have.  For example, they could come in their pyjamas like a character from David Walliams’ The Midnight Gang.

There are also some really good and free ideas on the following websites: http://www.worldbookday.com/dressing-up/

Northamptonshire Libraries are celebrating World Book Day  and they would like to invite children to come to a Read, Rate, Create weekend (4th and 5th March) at their local library.  They know you will be talking about books a lot at school and home this week so would like children to visit their local library this weekend to rate the books they’ve been reading and/or create a masterpiece based on the book.  Libraries will have sheets available to help the children write or draw a review of their book and they will have different materials available for them to create something based on the book e.g. a picture, a model, a Lego construction etc.
