In foundation stage we have been thinking about growing. We have been growing cress, potatoes and beans. The children were have been eagerly checking for changes each day.
Emily used a magnifying glass to look at the cress and noticed that it was starting to sprout. Unfortunately the cress didn't grow very tall and the children have been investigating why this might have happened.
We are also growing our own potatoes. The first part of the potato growing process is called chitting. The potatoes were put onto a tray and we are waiting for them to grow. Then they will be put into potato sacks.
The children studied the potatoes and each created their own picture. We added labels to the pictures using our phonics knowledge.
The children are looking forward to observing the changes in the potatoes over the next few weeks.
