In year 6 we’ve come to the end of our story writing based on Coraline by Neil Gaiman. We’ve enjoyed learning about the characters and setting as this helped us to write Coraline Part 2! We impressed Miss York and Miss Taylor by including our new grammar skills: semi colons, the active and passive voice and different types of clauses.
We summarised the text like a road-map and added the feelings of the characters. We explored openings that would hook the reader in.
“I was proud of the plot twist that I managed to include.” Gracie
“I think I improved my descriptions in my second draft.” Owen
“I am proud of the part when Coraline’s daughter saw the food on the table. This is because I used the same scene that was in the original text with the same food, an omelette and bacon. I wanted to remind the reader of little facts from part 1.” Alfie
Finally, we wrote to the author to share our viewpoint on the book, with him.
