Year 4 - Ancient Egypt

Year 4 continue their topic of Ancient Egypt.  They have immersed themselves in the practises of 5000 years ago, learning about the Egyptian alphabet hieroglyphs, their meanings and inventions of Ancient Egypt.

This week year 4 have learned about the Pharaohs and their magnificent burial chambers, the pyramids.  The afterlife was important to the Egyptians, and they believed that by preserving a dead person's body through the process of mummification - their soul would live on in the after-life forever.  Year 4 practised the bandaging part of the mummification process.  They learned the mummification bandages were 1 mile long, whilst the children weren't given that much to practise with, they had a good go!
