Year 6 - Day 3 Residential Trip 2017

Day 3
This time we really did get a good night’s sleep. Croissants for breakfast and then on to our activities.
Canoeing
Another three hour walk to the lake and after getting our kit on we went back onto the water in two man canoes. But we weren’t ON the water for long – we were IN the water. Lots of splashing, silly games, balancing, not balancing…
Mission Impossible
Well, mission quite difficult really. A range of different team challenges working together to solve problems. Tyres, toxic waste, crane, spider web and others. Working as a team we were able to complete the challenges set before us.
On spider web we had to climb over a web of ropes without touching any of them, getting the whole team safely to the other side.
The tyres had to be moved from post to post without larger ones going onto smaller ones.
Four ropes controlled a crane to pick up wooden blocks.
Finally, we had to remove some toxic waste using just two ropes.
Night Line
Blindfolded, we led each other around the field, following the sound of the leader clapping. Making animal noises we had to find our partner, although I haven’t heard many cows speaking perfect English before – “I’m a cow…I’m a cow…I’m a cow…”
Then in one line, with the blind leading the blind, we set off around the obstacle course. Over, under, through and round things we couldn’t even see.
Fetching – sorry – fencing
No pictures for this, but great fun learning how to walk (forwards AND backwards). Then we learned how to stab each other with plastic foils (swords). “The masks made us look like aliens,” said Annie.
Zip-Line
Higher than the climbing wall, but this time up a ladder, then hooks in the tree. Flying through the air towards the tyre at the other end, but no-one managed to get to it. “But me and Brian were the closest,” said Precious.
Probably the best day so far and to top it off, the rain has stopped and the sun popped out to say hello (for about 5 minutes).
