Foundation Stage - Healthy Eating Shopping Trip
On Tuesday 6th and Wednesday 7th March Foundation Stage walked to Tesco at Weston Favell Shopping Centre, they had a tour of the store and Lucy from Tesco talked to the children about healthy eating.
We saw the opticians where we can get our eyes checked, the pharmacy where we can buy medicines and get advice when we feel unwell. We looked at all the toothbrushes and talked about brushing our teeth twice a day.
Lucy showed us the warehouse and we saw the loading bay where big lorries are unloaded. We learned that this shop has one main aisle and there are smaller aisles leading off it.
We visited the hot food counter and the pizza counter where we saw vegetable pizzas being prepared. We talked about what pizza toppings we like and admired the ingredients which were nearly every colour of the rainbow. We could smell the delicious bakery as we walked through the shop and we had fun speaking to the fishmonger and saw fish of different sizes, shapes and colours. The fishmonger was very funny, don't forget to look at our photos and see the great fun we had!
We each had a go on the checkout, we sold our imaginary customers three items each and we got to keep the receipt as a souvenir. On our way around the shop we even saw some of the mummies and daddies of children at our school. Now we know what they do when we're working hard at school!
We were given lots of fresh fruit and vegetables as a gift from Tesco. After the walk back to school the children had earned their delicious and healthy snacks!
