Register of Business Interests for the Local School Committee as at November 6, 2017

This register is a statutory document for the Local School Committee. Where there has been any doubt, the presumption has been in favour of disclosure to support transparency and accountability.  It is important that governors and staff not only act impartially, but are also seen to act impartially.  Governors have a legal responsibility to avoid conflict between their business and personal interests and affairs and those of the school and to declare an interest likely to lead to questions of bias when considering any item of business at any meeting of governors.

The signed hard copies of the Register are kept in the governors’ folder at school and administered by the Committee Clerk Teresa Elkin. The register is reviewed annually.  Governors are aware of the need to declare any changes as and when they occur.

“Any change to move to academy status brings many questions. At the same time it also opens up many opportunities for us all and for the future of Catholic education in Northampton town. Our sincere conviction is that moving to academy status will ensure a successful future for each of the schools in the Trust, working together in partnership.

We will work in collaboration with the head teachers of the schools and each school will also have a local governing committee sharing in the school’s day to day running with the head teacher, leadership team and staff. We will build on all that so may people have contributed to our schools over recent years as staff, governors, members of the IEB and advisors. Now we look positively to a secure future for us all.”  Monsignor Kevin McGinnell.
