St Gregory’s Catholic Primary School

Our Lenten focus this year is to Love Out Loud. Each child has made a commitment to showing love to others, following the advice from James (1:22) who advised us not to just listen to God’s word, but to do what it says.

Fr Jerry celebrated Mass for us in school on Ash Wednesday and distributed ashes to us all.

On Wednesday 11th March, Jay, from NYMO, visited St Gregory’s for the first time and he spent time sharing Bible stories with each class. He also met with the Ethos Team at lunchtime, who were busy creating a coin heart on the playground, made with money donated from pupils in our school for our Lenten charities: Mission Together, CAFOD and a children’s cancer hospital in Ghana, which has links with Fr Jerry.

On this day, Fr Jerry also led each class in prayer in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. This reminded us to make more room for Jesus in our lives this Lent, following his example to show love to everybody that we meet. Each class also undertook a sponsored walk to raise money for our charities.
